Some recent happenings at the Ploegs:

Jack went to the Tigers Home Opener so I had to send him this picture from my phone so he could show it off while at the game :).

The Best Day Ever

One year ago today, my precious little nephew Joshua was born (on my mom's birthday, no less). Then the next morning, Jack and I finally got the news we'd been praying for for over two years: we were pregnant! In the span of about 12 hours, we were able to rejoice in the birth of a healthy baby boy AND rejoice in the pregnancy of what would be our healthy baby boys. Thinking back to that day brings tears to my eyes. As my sister Julie said that day, it was the best day ever!

Babies

If you would have asked me in college what I saw myself doing 8 years later, there are some things I probably could have guessed -- married to Jack, couple kids, maybe even living at our house on Union. But there would definitely be a few things I wouldn't have imagined -- twins, unemployed, and, among many other things, that me and the girls I was living with (Pam Slotsema and Amy Amash) would all have babies within two months of each other and find ourselves right back in the same place in life together as stay-at-home moms.

We had another play date yesterday and this time got to add two more little babes -- another set of twins -- born to Corey Visker, another girl I met that first week at Calvin. To those counting, that makes six babies -- Polly, Jackson, Samuel, Tyler, Lydia and Aubrey -- from six months to seven weeks old.

The Lord is Risen!

Christ is Risen Indeed!

I must say, Easter is my favorite "holiday". Not only do I love and look forward to indulging in whatever it was I gave up for Lent (this year it was ice cream and chocolate), but way more importantly, I love to celebrate the intense and miraculous mystery of what this day means to our faith. Sure, Christmas is great -- after all, we can't have Easter without Christ's birth -- but without the cross and resurrection, our faith is dead. Easter is such a wonderful reminder of the victory over death through Christ -- which, to me, is the cornerstone of our faith. Praise the Lord!

Oh, and are my boys in their Easter duds :).

Play, Play Dates & Other News

At a recent play date with Jackson and Polly, I told their moms, Amy and Pam, that the boys don't really play with toys yet. Well, I was totally wrong. They both loved Jackson's floor / play gym thingy! So as soon as we got home, I promptly got out our play gym and ever since then, they've been batting at toys and chains and entertaining themselves for a full 20 minutes (especially Sam)! Then the other day, we were at Ruby's and Sam got to try out her excersaucer. Again, while he's a little small and his feet barely touch, he was at least mildly entertained and quiet for a good 15 minutes. So as soon as we got home, I promptly got out our excersaucer. I have concluded a few things based on these experiences: 1) It's a good thing we have play dates to go see our friends or my poor boys would be totally deprived of fun 2) I like being able to put them somewhere where they can play by themselves 3) There is now even more crap in my living room than I even thought possible.

In addition to being enthralled with toys, my boys are once again growing out of a new set of clothes. While I am sad to pack up the 0-3's, I do like seeing them in their new duds! Also, Tyler has found his tongue. His new favorite thing is to stick his tongue out at everyone as far as he possibly can.
